This item was filled under [ Tourist Attractions ]

When a tourist lands on this historically rich city of St. Andrews, the physical strains of the trip is well paid off by its relaxing panoramic views and the rush of excitement of its well developed leisure spots among other things,

Some of the places that one must go to are the historic parts of the town from which the city was shaped. One should not miss the Cathedral, which began in 1159 and was consecrated in the presence of King Robert the Bruce in 1318. The structure remains a witness to the changes that the Reformation brought to the country.

The St. Rule’s Tower, which is part of the church should be included in the list since it is believed to have held the relics of the apostle Andrew from whom the city was dedicated. The remains of the wind-blown chapel of St. Mary by the seaside is historically of value as it is believed to be the first chapel built in the city by the Culdees.

The historical trip would not be as significant if one does not visit to appreciate the remains of the old castle, the fearsome tools that existed during the stake-burning period when some women were believed to be witches preserved in the Holy Trinity Chapel, and also the contemplative atmosphere of St. Leonard’s Chapel. Lastly, the world-renowned Old Course would definitely charm your way to the heart of the city, as it is famous for being the Home of Golf.

The contemporary attractions which are famous among local tourists include the grassy open piece parkland of Bow Butts like the Craighton Park, which is just east of R&A Golf Club, the West Sands Beach, which is one of Scotland’s top rated beaches, the city’s Aquarium or Sea Life Center, and the Botanic Garden.

The St. Rules Tower was absolutely magnificent when my wife and I saw it years ago. The history behind the tower is also one of the most interesting stories I have heard. It’s absolutely a must-see attraction. Good recommendations!
