St. Andrews, Scotland has been generally known throughout the world as the Home of Golf as it is the birthplace of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club, which is the recognized governing organization on the game’s rules except for North America. It also has the first and oldest golf course in the world, The Old Course, which dates back to 1400 when the game was first played in the country.

One of its best golf courses is the Duke’s Course, a championship course designed by Peter Thomson. Its clubhouse and the course itself offer breathtaking views of the city and the seemingly endless coastline to Carnoustie.

The Kittocks Course formerly known as The Devlin by Bruce Devlin offers golfers a roller coaster kind of experience with its bunkers and landscape. It is also a championship course of 72 par, and 7049 yard stretched in the rugged seaside.

The challenging and winding stream, which tests any golfer’s ability to choose his clubs well is the distinguishing characteristic of The Torrance, a 72 par and 7073 yard course that run around a hotel and slides down the coastal edge.

Among the historic golf courses, which include Eden, the 6742-yard Jubilee Golf Course was once a 12-hole layout. Two centuries after, it has developed into a championship course.

The New Course, which was opened in 1895, has a layout of 18 holes and 71 par, 6604 yards. Its name is taken following the Old Course. It is found right to the Old Course and it still has a remarkable and challenging course in the classic links style.

Lastly, one must not miss the Old Course to take part of history. The course continues to evolve long after it was first built by its pioneers and remains a real test for golfers these days.
